The expansion favours
majority of ethnic minorities
Seven representatives of the ethnic
minority will be members of the expanded interim organogram of the Parbatya
Chhattagram Zila Parishad.
The cabinet has approved the expansion of
the interim Zila Parishads of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban in a
regular meeting on Monday.
The cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, approved the Parbatya Chhattagram Zila Parishad (amended) Act,
2014.

Bhuiyan briefed the media afterwards.
The expanded body of the Zila Parishad
will constitute of 11 members, including a chairman, in contrary to the
preceding five-member structure.
Representatives of the ethnic minority
will take seven seats in this interim body. The three remaining seats will be
allowed for non-ethnic origin.

পার্বত্য চত্তগ্রামে জুম্মদের ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপট (তারা সবাধীন জাতি ছিল) এবং ঐ এলাকায় বাংলাদেশের বতর্মান ইসলামীকরণ নীতির আলোকে স্যাটলারদেরকে যে নামে অভিহিত করলে সবচেয়ে ভাল হয় তা হোল "জেহাদী স্যাটলার"। "জেহাদী" মানে ইসলামিক জেহাদী ("এক হাতে কোরান আর এক হাতে তলোয়ার" পন্থী; তবে একটু অন্যভাবে, ডিপ্লোম্যাটিকভাবে, কারণ বর্তমান বিশবে তো নগ্নভাবে "জেহাদ" করা যায়না) আর "স্যাটলার" মানে পার্বত্য চত্তগ্রামে অবৈধ অনুপ্রবেশকারী। তাদেরকে এই নামে অভিহিত করলে পার্বত্য চত্তগ্রাম সমস্যার সবরুপ ও বাস্তবতা পরিস্কারভাবে ফুটে উঠে।
